T.A.R.D.I.F Part 2

Welcome back, my friends! You have waited very patiently (for a whole 24 hours!) for the next segment of this story. In those 24 hours i thought long and hard about where it should go, and here is the result!
This was inspired by this prompt, and my friend Torra's ideas. WARNING: If you have never seen Doctor Who this will be a lot less fun and potentially confusing. That said let's begin.

The frame of the mirror lit up with pale electric blue light. Madison stepped back, nearly running into the sink counter. And it was lucky she did, for no sooner had she stopped backing up then the mirror swung open.

Inside was an impossible sight. It looked, for all the world, to be a sitting room. The walls were lined with bookshelves, the floor had a plush looking rug, overstuffed chairs sat in every corner. Yes, it looked quite like a study from an old movie, except for the fact that there was a large pillar in the middle of the room. The pillar looked as though it had no apparent purpose other than to confuse young teachers who looked in.

But the most confusing thing about the room was, in fact, not the pillar. Madison reasoned that it was a very large room, and a very large room must have a very large space to fill. But neither the mirror or the wall was thick enough to accommodate it. She estimated the mirror itself, was about two inches thick, the wall was about one foot thick, and the room was the size of a small basketball field! That was definitely not one foot and two inches wide.

And TIME! Sorry all for today. You'll just have to "tune in" tomorrow to see what happens next. Sorry sports fans for saying basketball field, i am totally clueless on sports and had no idea what else to call it. I apologize if I'm wrong. And if I'm right I apologize for apologizing.
